North Carolina’s Only Official Burton Learn To Ride Center
Burton Snowboards, the world’s leading snowboard manufacturer has selected Appalachian Ski Mtn. to be named as an official Burton Learn To Ride (LTR) Center.
The goal of the LTR program is to give beginner snowboarders the best initial snowboarding experience possible so they return to the mountain and continue to snowboard. At Burton Learn to Ride Centers, students will find Burton LTR products developed specifically for learning, a 6 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio, appropriate learning terrain, and shops that set riders up right the first time.
The Burton LTR Board
The Learn To Ride board is the foundation of the LTR program. The LTR board has special features specifically designed to make a first day on a snowboard more fun and satisfying. A special bevel on the base edge of the board helps eliminate catching an edge. Soft torsional flex makes the board easier to turn. Convex contact points on the tip and tail make linking first turns smooth and easy. Supportive, comfortable and easy to use Burton Progression boots and bindings are also provided in the LTR program to ensure comfort, a secure fit, and great performance.
BURTON FREESTYLE CENTER
In an effort to make it easier than ever for skiers and snowboarders to learn how to ride freestyle terrain, Appalachian Ski Mtn is the home for Burton Snowboards’ only Progression Park in North Carolina.
- Burton’s snowboard freestyle program is designed to make progression in the parks safe and fun.
- Boost your confidence with specially trained freestyle coaches that teach freestyle snowboarding and smart style etiquette.
- Burton Park Performance snowboards feature latest V-Rocker Technology for Men, Ladies & Children.
- Freestyle park lessons are available through the French Swiss Ski College.
Appalachian has made a commitment to offer great freestyle teaching terrain in its Burton Progression Park. The AppalTop Terrain Park is located beside Upper Big Appal and features smaller versions of freestyle terrain features such as jibs, rails, bonks, and boxes, just inches off the ground.
