App Ski Mtn is sponsoring the evening which will be showcasing two classic ski/ride films – “There’s Something About McConkey” & “Better off Dead”
A portion of ticket sales will benefit our Appalachian Ski Mtn. Ski Patrol!
Tickets are $15 for General Admission and can be purchased online. Doors open at 5:30pm with the films starting at 6.

There’s Something About McConkey (2000) – A Matchstick documentary following ski pioneer Shane McConkey as he leaves traditional ski racing to revolutionize freeskiing, injecting fun and absurdity by attacking mountains with unique styles while battling the establishment, showcasing his irreverent personality and innovative spirit that inspired a new era in skiing. It’s a wild, fast-paced look at his mindset, featuring fellow skiers like Seth Morrison and Jonny Moseley. Runtime: 45 minutes – Not Rated
Better Off Dead (1985) – Lane Meyer (John Cusack) is a teen with a peculiar family and a bizarre fixation with his girlfriend, Beth (Amanda Wyss). When Beth dumps Lane, he decides to kill himself, making bumbling attempts at suicide. Outside of his morbid endeavors, Lane spends time with his oddball buddy, Charles (Curtis Armstrong), and befriends Monique (Diane Franklin), a visiting French student. Eventually, Lane resolves to race Beth’s obnoxious new beau on the ski slopes, with unexpected results. Runtime: 2 hours 8 minutes – Rated PG
